Born here, raised in the forest, the guide who never stopped being curious about it
Cahuita native. ICT certified. 5 years as a formal guide. In the field because it's what he loves.
YOUR CERTIFIED LOCAL GUIDE
Born in 2000. Nature has been home ever since.
I grew up in this area with a deep curiosity for everything that lives here. From an early age, I was drawn to the forest, the birds, the animals, the sounds, the way everything connects. I didn't read about it in a book. I lived it.
I camped inside the forest on my own just to feel more connected to it. During those years I started learning more about the indigenous heritage of this region and what it means to understand a place, not just visit it. I studied the behavior of the animals here, their habits, their patterns. That curiosity never stopped.
Over time I built up my tools, piece by piece, to be able to share this with the people who come to visit my country. Five years ago I formalized that as an ICT-certified guide. What drives me isn't just showing wildlife. It's teaching people about it, helping them understand what they're seeing, and leaving them with more than just a photo.
Whether you're a serious birder with a target list or someone who's never held binoculars before, I adapt to you. Just tell me who's coming and what you're hoping to experience.

WHY GUESTS FROM 12 COUNTRIES BOOK MORE THAN ONCE
Three commitments Alonso makes on every single tour
Tailored to your group, always
Whether you're a solo birder chasing a life list or a group of friends exploring together, Alonso plans the experience around you. Tell him who's coming and what you're after, he'll make it work.
Professional optics, always included
Alonso brings his Vortex Diamondback 65mm spotting scope and Vortex Diamondback 10x50 on every birding tour. The same gear he uses for his own personal birding, included in the tour price, no need to bring anything.
Real sightings, not just counts
Alonso would rather you truly see 20 species than technically spot 50. The scope on a single Trogon is worth more than 10 distant silhouettes. Guests consistently tell him this is what they remember months later.
Still deciding? Ask Alonso directly, he answers every message himself.
